Our high quality ceramics are favoured by medical device manufacturers and the medical professions for their exceptional physical characteristics. Our medical engineering expertise includes ceramic orthopaedic joint replacements and highly specialised ceramic-to-metal assemblies for implantable devices such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, and defibrillators. 

Our piezo ceramic components are used extensively in medical ultrasound. The high density of our PZT and single crystal piezo materials are enabling increased resolution ultrasonic imaging. Our superior high drive materials with industry leading electrical and mechanical loss characteristic enable the most efficient and small medical tools to be designed such as ultrasonic dental descalers and ultrasonic scalpels. Our in-house design of custom ultrasonic air in line sensors, including secondary sensing functions (optical & pressure), enables increasing smaller medical equipment such as infusion pumps to be designed.

The wide range of high performance and high density piezo materials are widely used in ultrasound imaging and diagnostic equipment. The capabilities of thin film electroding, photolithography, precision dicing and composites make us ideal sub- assembly suppliers in these fields. Our custom multilayer, bimorph actuator and sensor capabilities are ideal for valve and drug nebulization applications.

The high-hardness and flatness that can be achieved on the polished surfaces of our materials provides the medical industry with millions of high quality seals every year. Our powder-injection moulding facilities make many thousands of highly complex hand tools for surgical applications. We also produce a wide variety of ceramic-to-metal brazed assemblies for use in life science and medical instrumentation.
